This is a place about my art and how it's bright style paints home decorating. Items such as porcelain teapots, pitchers and dishes that transform from white to "bright". Salt and Pepper shakers, and other glassware painted in the popular “flower garden” line. Furniture, rocking chairs, and stools, whether antique or new, that become works of art.
A former quilted fabric artist with "The Quilted Rainbow" in the '80's, I took a turn in my career after taking my first oil painting class in 1988. It didn't take long to put the needle in the pin cushion for a while and take up the brush! Studying with Richard Marks, Lela Harty, Nicolaides and others, I developed a style of light and depth in landscapes, still lifes, and wildlife--especially elephants.
Although I love canvas painting, my heart has always been in the home--so my return to home decorating is full circle. I have recently branched out into a favorite childhood pastime—embroidery. There has been a return in popularity in Redwork and Bluework from the 1800’s, and I am thoroughly enjoying creating tea towels, pillows, ornaments and more in that style. Embroidered “phrase hearts”, button pillows, and handmade embroidered hankies are regular hot sellers.
